Find My Item Tracker
The awkward bit, first
Homing Tag or an Apple AirTag
Same Apple Find My network. Same left-behind alerts. Same key ring, except ours is already in the box. What actually separates them is the price, and it is not a subtle gap.

Out of earshot, not out of sight
You do not need to be nearby. Somebody with an iPhone just has to wander past.
The 60 m figure is how far away you can make it squeal, not how far it can be tracked. Beyond that, the Homing Tag leans on Apple’s Find My network: any Apple device that strolls within Bluetooth reach of it (up to 60 m in the open) quietly updates its spot on your map. In the UK, that is a lot of strolling.
Step 1: The tag mutters into the void
It sends out a small, anonymous Bluetooth signal, over and over. It has no idea who is listening and does not need to.
Step 2: A stranger’s iPhone passes it on
Any Apple device within range (up to 60 m in the open) picks it up and sends an encrypted location to iCloud. The passer-by is never told, never named and never bothered.
Step 3: It turns up on your map
Open Find My and there it is, with the time it was last heard. Nobody lifted a finger, least of all you.

Where that crowd earns its keep
The gym bag still at five-a-side
Whoever has the next pitch booking walks past it with a phone in their pocket, so you know it is under the bench before you leg it back in a panic.
The bag you left on the 07:42
Fellow commuters keep reporting where it has got to, so you ring lost property with a location rather than a shrug.
The handbag that stayed for last orders
A packed pub is a room full of iPhones, so by the time you notice, the map already knows which corner you were sat in.
It is the same Apple Find My network an AirTag uses, with the same billion-odd helpers, for a fraction of the price. The network does not ask what you paid for the tag.
How fresh the map is depends on Apple devices passing near the tag: a busy station, constant updates; a field in Powys, rather fewer. Making it squeal needs your own iPhone or iPad within about 60 m. Apple, AirTag and Find My are trademarks of Apple Inc. Find My Item Tracker is an independent UK shop with no connection to Apple.
Why bother
Six things a Homing Tag does that shouting up the stairs does not
All of it happens in the Find My app Apple already put on your iPhone. Nothing to download, nobody to sign up to, and no direct debit lurking a year from now.
It squeals when you tell it to
Tap Play Sound and the tag goes off at 80–100 dB from up to 60 m away. Sofa cushions, coat pockets and the bottom of a gym bag are no defence.
It lives in an app you already have
The tag appears in the Items list of Apple Find My, next to your AirPods. Over a billion passing Apple devices report where it is, worldwide, for nothing.
It tells you off before you get far
Walk away from the tagged thing and your iPhone speaks up within a street or two, with the last place it saw it already pinned. Turning round beats retracing your whole afternoon.
A stranger can hand it back without phoning you
Flag it as lost and whoever picks it up holds a phone to it, reads your message and reaches you through Apple Find My. Your number stays yours.
When the battery dies, the tag does not
Twist the back off, drop in a CR2032 from the corner shop, twist it shut. Two years later, do it again. Nothing goes in the bin.
Rain is not an event
IP67 sealed: dust-tight, and fine with downpours, spilled drinks and a brief swim in a puddle.
The tag itself
Small, black, and much louder than it looks
36 mm square and 9 mm thick, with the key ring hole already moulded into the shell. No sticky pad, no accessory holder to buy afterwards for more than the tag cost.
1 / 7Ringing a Homing Tag to find a wallet that has slid down the back of the sofa
The screen you will actually use
Your wallet, on a map, in about two taps
There is no dashboard of ours to learn and no unfamiliar map. The Homing Tag turns up in the Items list of the Find My app, one tap from a location and a large button that makes it squeal.

One list for the lot
The tag is not shut away in an app of its own. It sits beside your iPhone, your iPad and your AirPods, on one map, under one Apple Account.
The map gets you close, the noise finishes the job
Up to 100 dB from as far as 60 m. A pin on a map cannot tell you which cushion. A squealing tag can.
A telling-off, not a eulogy
The alert lands while you are walking away, with the last confirmed spot already pinned, thirty seconds of backtracking instead of an evening of it.

Where the first one usually goes
Tag whatever you were hunting for last Tuesday
Two tags in a box: one for the thing you lose weekly, one for the thing you would genuinely cry about. Most people do the remote first and then wish they had done the wallet.
- The TV remote
- Your wallet
- Keys that live in the sofa
- Glasses cases
- Gym and swim bags
- Umbrellas you keep abandoning

Advice from people who lose things too
Longer answers than a FAQ box allows: what to look for in a tracker, how to set one up properly, and what actually happens when something goes missing.

Setting it up
Three taps, then back to whatever you were doing
The Homing Tag joins Apple Find My as an "Other Item", which is the same door Apple uses for its own accessories. If you have ever paired a set of earbuds, you are overqualified.
Step 1: Open Find My, hit Items
On your iPhone, open Find My, tap Items along the bottom, and choose "Add Other Item".
Step 2: Hold the tag until it beeps
Press and hold the front of the Homing Tag until it chimes, then name it something you will recognise at 7am. "Keys" is fine. "Item 1" is a trap.
Step 3: Thread the key ring on and forget it
That is the entire job. From here on it is on the map, it can be made to squeal, and it complains the moment you leave it behind.
You need an iPhone or iPad on iOS 14.5 or later. There is no Android version, not a limited one, none, so please do not buy it for an Android phone.

Six people who stopped turning the house over
Real reviews of this exact tracker, printed the way they were written, hedges, typos and all.
Seamless iPhone pairing
Bought it for my stroller for a Disney trip and it worked brilliantly. Pairing was fast and sharing the tag with my partner was as easy as an AirTag.
Anna M.From the tag’s Amazon listing
Keeps them on track
Got these for a friend who always misplaces their keys. It has saved them so many times already.
Cameron H.From the tag’s Amazon listing
Very good
Works exactly as expected. Set up in a minute and the ring is loud.
Tim R.From the tag’s Amazon listing
Find the dog
Great value for a tag on our dog's collar. Locations so far have been spot on.
Sheila P.From the tag’s Amazon listing
Gift for my daughter
My daughter has a chaotic house with five kids and a Great Dane. She says this actually finds her keys, unlike the last brand we tried.
Laura B.From the tag’s Amazon listing
Great for the price
Two tags for less than half an AirTag. Battery swap is easy. Only wish it came in more colours.

The figure above is nothing more than the average of the reviews printed on this page, rounded to one decimal place. Find My Item Tracker is new, so there are not many yet, and the ones there are go up as they were written. Ten questions, answered without the marketing voice
Three of these will talk some people out of buying. They are still here.
I have a Samsung. Can I still use one?
No, and we would rather say so now than refund you later. The Homing Tag registers on the Apple Find My network, which needs an iPhone or iPad on iOS 14.5 or later, signed in to iCloud. There is no Android app and no workaround. If the tag is a gift, check which phone they carry first.
You are a .com, where do you actually post to?
The United Kingdom, and nowhere else. The domain ends in .com but the shop, the stock and the returns address are all in the UK, delivery is free to any UK address with no minimum spend, and checkout will not take an overseas delivery address. If you are reading this from abroad, this is the wrong shop for you and we would rather you found that out here than at the payment screen.
Is there a catch? What does it cost me after I have bought it?
Nothing. There is no companion app, no account to create, no trial that turns into a subscription and no monthly fee. Locating your things through the Apple Find My network is free and is Apple’s to run, not ours. The only thing you will ever spend again is a couple of pounds on a coin cell, roughly every two years.
How is this so much cheaper than an AirTag?
Because it is not an AirTag, and we are not Apple. It carries an MFi certified chip that lets it join the same Apple Find My network, so the finding works the same way, but it skips the Ultra Wideband hardware that drives AirTag’s precise on-screen arrow, and it comes from a shop with no retail estate to pay for. You get a map, a left-behind alert and a loud speaker, you do not get the arrow.
What happens when the thing I have lost is still in the house?
This is the case the tag is best at. Open Find My, tap the item, tap Play Sound, and it goes off at 80–100 dB from up to 60 m / 200 ft away. That is loud enough to hear through a sofa, a coat, a laundry pile or a closed drawer, and it is how most people find most things.
Right. Go and tag something.
Two Homing Tags, two key rings, and the Find My app that is already on your phone.
